It was built by city builders, but separated from the community by a hillside one hundred feet;
It was submerged and exposed by river water, but fish and birds could not perch on its concrete.
It is a symbol of barrier between the city and the natural,
An inevitable outcome abandoned by both parties.
我们该做的是打破屏障，
主动与自然环境建立联系。
既不一味索取，
也不消极保护。
而是交易，成立一个中转站，
实现物质交换的平衡。
What we should do is break the barrier,
Take the initiative to establish contact with the natural environment.
Neither blindly ask for it,
Nor is it passive protection.
It’s about trading, setting up a transit station,
Achieve the balance of material exchange.
挖开内部的混凝土，
将河水引进内部，
与山坡上的有机质土壤交融，
形成树林、湖泊、湿地、芦苇丛和河流。
在城区之内成形成自然的孵化站。
鱼在此产卵，候鸟在此休憩。
Excavate the internal concrete,
Bring river water into the interior,
Blended with the organic soil on the hillside,
Form forests, lakes, wetlands, reeds and rivers.
It becomes a natural incubation station in the city.
Fish lay their eggs here, and migratory birds rest here.
利用边界的混凝土，
在河上建立城市的站点，
将人类的设施投放于自然环境当中，
建起渔港、水产市场、轮渡码头、港口餐厅、社区商业街。
人们在此获取自然提供的便利与产品。
Use the border of the concrete,
Build a city site on the river,
Put human facilities in the natural environment,
Build fishing ports, fish markets, ferry terminals, port restaurants, and community commercial streets.
People get convenience and products provided by nature here.
